Humans of T-shirt: Meet Britt, HeyHubble Marketplace Lead

Brittany Scotman (affectionately known around the office as simply 'Britt') is one of our superstars at T-shirt Ventures. Britt is our HeyHubble Marketplace Lead - basically, she makes sure our participants and providers on HeyHubble have an amazing and high-quality experience.

From her very first interview with us, it was obvious that Britt was a living example of T-shirt’s values. In the 18 months she’s worked at T-shirt, she’s proved that she walks the walk with our values. She’s also super talented at her job and has had a huge impact.

Britt has shared what it’s like to work at T-shirt Ventures and with the HeyHubble team, and the joy that she gets from our participants achieving their goals (talk about a Big Heart)!

Can you give us a quick overview of T-shirt?

Of course! T-shirt is a health tech company that helps people living with disability and long-term health needs overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and improve the quality of their everyday lives. T-shirt Ventures is the parent company of  the amazing health tech brands Provider Choice and HeyHubble

Tell us more about your role

My role as HeyHubble Marketplace Lead is to make sure that the NDIS participants on HeyHubble are connected with high-quality providers that suit their own unique needs. If our participants are happy, our online NDIS marketplace is a success.

I also lead our Community Operations team as we find and onboard new providers across NSW and WA. We look for providers who align to our values as an organisation, really care about participants and are laser focused on quality service. It’s really important to us that we find providers who are a suitable, safe and long-term match for our participants.

How long have you been working at T-shirt, and what drew you to the company?

I have been working for T-shirt for 18 months, although it feels like I have been here forever, and at the same time, that I only started just yesterday! I was originally drawn to the company after hearing about HeyHubble. I believe HeyHubble has an opportunity to really change the game for NDIS participants and how they find providers, making it easier for them to access services that are crucial in living their best life. I wanted to be a part of that change and help participants build a great team around them.

You’re at the BBQ with a friend who asks you: “What’s it like working at T-shirt?”. What do you tell them?

No two days at T-shirt are the same. We learn lots, we work fast and have so much fun along the way.

If I could describe T-shirt in one word it would be vibrant, as each day is full of new challenges and everyone puts in so much energy to solve them as best as we can.

What's the most rewarding part about your role and working at T-shirt?

Hearing the participants' stories and the progress they’ve made towards their own goals is so rewarding. So often we match participants with providers who allow them to achieve things that felt so out of reach at one point.

I'm surrounded by so many inspiring people at T-shirt who will go to big lengths to ensure these moments happen.

Choice and control is one of the most important concepts within the NDIS, and at HeyHubble we are truly giving choice and control back to the participants.

You've been nominated as living our company value: "Big Hearts". What does that value mean to you?

To me “Big Hearts” encapsulates kindness, a willingness to put yourself in someone else's shoes and to go on the journey with them, even if it’s hard at times.

Everything at T-shirt originates from our compassion for participants in the NDIS and our desire to improve their outcomes.  We want to provide the best services and experiences for them, while assisting in any way we can to help them achieve their goals.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to hang out with my dog. I have a beautiful Husky whose name is Tymba, and we spend a lot of time outside together with my partner.  I'm super family oriented and love spending time with my family. I also love going to the beach and reading.

I love that T-shirt supports me and our teams to be able to develop ourselves - another one of our values is “Grow, Together”. This kind of support means I’m actually still studying to get my MBA, while making a meaningful impact at T-shirt as well!

What are you looking forward to while working at T-shirt?

I am most looking forward to seeing the impact HeyHubble can have as we reach a larger audience. We hear stories everyday of things participants were able to achieve because of the providers they connected with on HeyHubble. I just can't wait to help even more, whether it be helping a mum have an extra hour in her day now that she doesn't have to find her child an OT. Or helping someone find a provider to build the skills they need to land a job - the potential for the good HeyHubble can have is huge.
